New Delhi, July 24, 2025 – In a landmark initiative to enhance healthcare infrastructure and patient care, Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) & Safdarjung Hospital today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) under the their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
Transforming Urological Care with State-of-the-Art Technology
The partnership will facilitate the procurement of cutting-edge urological equipment that promises to revolutionize patient care and treatment outcomes. The equipment includes:
1. Video Urodynamic Machine with Near Infra Red Spectroscopy: This gold-standard diagnostic tool will enable real-time evaluation of patients with urinary bladder problems, particularly benefiting those with neurological conditions affecting bladder function.
2. TRILOGY Lithotripter: An advanced stone-breaking device utilizing two energy forms and suction simultaneously designed to provide faster recovery, more efficient treatment turnaround times, and reduced waiting periods for stone surgeries.
3. Thulium Fibre Laser Machine: A sophisticated laser system for both laser surgery of the prostate and RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) procedures, enhancing minimally invasive treatment options.
4. Portable Mobile Endoscopy Machine: A state-of-the-art 3-in-1 endoscopy system that will enable Safdarjung hospital to start endourological emergency services .
5. Advanced Diagnostic Equipment: The partnership also includes procurement of a Flat Panel C Arm, Nephroscope Set, and Resectoscope Set, representing the technological backbone for approximately 70-80% of urological procedures.

Project overview presentation was done by Dr. Pawan Vasudeva, Professor & HOD, Urology & Renal Transplant.
He stated that it will significantly reduce patient waiting times for urological procedures, Enable complex simultaneous diagnostic procedures previously unavailable in India, Enhance treatment outcomes through minimally invasive surgical options , Strengthen India’s position as a hub for advanced medical care
& Serve as a model for collaborative partnerships in healthcare.
The collaboration underscores the importance of corporate social responsibility in bridging healthcare infrastructure gaps and demonstrates how strategic partnerships can create lasting positive impact on public health outcomes.
The ceremony was graced by Medical Superintendent Dr Charu Bamba, All Addl MS Dr R P Arora, Dr Krishan Kumar , Dr Rekha Tirkey, Dr Tilak Raj and DDA Shri Ashok Pal. The MOU signing ceremony was well attended by Head of various departments, Faculty and paramedical staff.
The ceremony ended with National anthem celebrating our unity and shared commitment to nation building.
