“Children Lead the Way: EFKON STRABAG and YUG Sanskriti Nyas Launch Creative Road Safety Campaign Across Delhi NCR”

With over 1.8 lakh road crash fatalities every year, India holds the unfortunate title of being the road death capital of the world. Nearly 2 lakh of these lives lost are bright, young individuals—India’s future. In response to this alarming crisis, EFKON STRABAG, in collaboration with YUG Sanskriti Nyas, has undertaken a powerful and creative road safety awareness campaign aimed at school children across Delhi NCR.

This initiative, which reached more than 5,000 students across hundreds of schools, is a call to action that places young citizens at the forefront of change. By engaging children in activities that blend learning with creativity and fun, the campaign positioned road safety not merely as a set of rules, but as a cultural value to be embraced. The young participants, seen as ambassadors of change, have the unique ability to influence both their peers and the adults around them—creating a ripple effect of awareness that extends into families and communities. When a child goes home and tells a parent to wear a seatbelt, or reminds a sibling to slow down at a crossing, that child becomes a catalyst for change, reaching places the program may never directly touch.

What makes this campaign stand out is its experiential approach to learning. The campaign utilized interactive formats such as street plays (nukkad nataks), art competitions, and engaging quizzes. Children were also introduced to illustrated storybooks and coloring exercises designed to help them understand the difference between right and wrong on the road. These formats not only captivated young minds but also helped instill critical safety values in an enjoyable and lasting manner.
